It is 11am on an icy Wednesday in Oxfordshire, and four agency workers who are about to start jobs as live-in carers for the elderly are sitting in the agency's lunch-room, fast being discouraged from the care-working scene by a long-time member of staff who can't shut up about how dreadful it is.
