The Alliance for Choice was formed in 1996 - just as New Labour was about to take power in the UK.
'It was Labour party policy to extend the Act [to Northern Ireland],' Horgan says. 'Up until then, what we [as campaigners] did was just work to get money to help women to come over here [to England for abortions].
'Then we thought - well, Labour is getting into power, and the Act will be extended, so we’ll turn into a campaigning group.
'For a few years, we just did that. Then, we realised that nothing was going to happen here (she points over at parliament).'
So - the campaigners turned their focus back to raising money.
'Women were still needing to go to England... I like to say this - I had no illusions in Tony Blair, but he still disappointed me.'
